Under C$1700 you're buying capability, not compromise. Genuine CoreXY motion, 300 °C hot ends, proper enclosures - everything a hobbyist actually needs. What you're paying extra for at this tier over C$850 is speed (volumetric flow rate), reliability at speed (input shaping, rigid frames), and usually the ability to print engineering materials. If you don't need engineering materials, the C$850 tier saves you money you can put towards filament.

Can I print ABS and nylon at this budget? +

Yes. C$1700 is the threshold where genuine active-chamber printers with 300 °C hot ends become mainstream. Plan for a filament dryer on top (around 10 % extra) if you want reliable nylon.

Is a multi-material unit worth the jump? +
